a reminder

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
cleaning out the ol' email box, and wondered why i had kept an lj reply from one of my favorite people (some know him as the Red Fez), and found this gem:

You just gotta have faith that you're on the right path and every changed thought helps move you forward.

(commentary at a later date)

be well!

random entertainment "news"

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I'm not usually a huge movie person, but I realized there are 3 movies coming out on dvd this week that I want to see:
Proof
Pride & Prejudice
Walk the Line

Ideally, the last 2 I'd liked to have seen in a theater, but honestly I'm not that picky when it comes to this stuff.

Got the Phantom of the Opera movie soundtrack out from the library the other day & I really want to see it again.

And yes, that would be my 34th birthday looming in the not-so-distant future. *shameless plug*

calling all cooks

ok, so i have these bananas. and i thought, well, i could make some banana bread. lo and behold, i don't have a loaf pan!

so, ok, banana cake, right? for some reason, allrecipes.com doesn't really have anything that's striking me right. a lot of them have sour cream!??!!?

so do you have an easy, basic banana bread/cake recipe that doesn't require a loaf pan?

so i found out the newest way for some schools to make money is to charge $5 for transcript requests. luckily, Kent doesn't, but the other 2 colleges i've attended do. so it'll cost me $10 just to get transcripts, plus the $30 or $35 application fee at Akron U. *sigh*
probably why i haven't gone back to school before this.

movies

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I got a free month of Blockbuster online from ordering a pizza online. So we've been watching a lot of movies, to get the most out of the month.

So far:
~Kingdom of Heaven (pretty good, but slower than I would have liked)
~Sin City (a little too violent for me, but looked cool)
~Madagascar (cute)
~Charlie & the Chocolate Factory (I'm impressed!)

On tap:
~Raja (Bollywood)
~Girl in the Cafe
~Shark Tale (from the library)

Also, from the library I recently got Phantom of the Opera (OMG!! I watched it twice, and would watch it again & again!) & Merchant of Venice, which had some really good acting in it. I wasn't enthralled really, but Al & Jeremy did wonderfully with the Shakespeare. And I liked the girl who played Portia (Lynn Collins).

And I just reserved Terminal from the library.
Next in line at Blockbuster:
~Ridicule
~Cold Feet, series 3

Ok, enough playing online, time to clean!

motivation test results

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Your Strongest Source of Motivation

Respect: Having others think highly of your work
Your strongest motivator is what you should consider first when looking at any job or career path. For example, if Family is your key motivator, you should consider a job that allows you scheduling flexibility. But if you are motivated by Creativity, a desk job will only make you unhappy. When pondering a career path, your motivators will lead you to a happy and healthy life, while succumbing to outside "obligations" can often lead to unhappiness.

Your Weakest Source of Motivation

Recognition: Your desire to be recognized by strangers
It is important to realize your weakest motivator, as jobs that focus on this factor will likely be ill-suited to your personality. For instance, if your weakest motivator is Philanthropy, you will probably not enjoy working at a nonprofit organization, since you will gain little from their primary motivator and will have little in common with other employees.

tabitha, your career personality type is ISFJ

That means that based on the standard measure of personality traits, you are a strong team player and believe the needs of the group come before the individual. You generally care about the people around you, which allows you to provide a personal touch at your workplace. That sense of caring allows you to feel personal accomplishment and acceptance from your co-workers who know they can turn to you for help. You are generous with your time and spirit and look to make the present moment better for everyone.

Your emotional strength combined with a pragmatic approach to work makes you a strong asset. You don't like juggling multiple projects at once and would rather get one project off your desk at a time. Because of your internal value system, you don't need false flattery from others. You have a strong work ethic and inspire others by your example. Because of this, you are a strong leader on any team. To you, your work speaks for itself.

The reason employers and recruiters might be on the lookout for you is that only about 7% of the U.S. population shares the unique characteristics of your personality type. Research shows that businesses succeed when employers create a good balance of personality types in the office. And since only 7% of the U.S. population shares your type, that means employers are looking for you.

Free Will Astrology

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
In his book *The Disappearance of the
Universe,* Gary Renard quotes the counsel of his teacher: "A jet
airliner is
always going off course, but through constant correction it arrives at
its
destination. So will you arrive at yours." Remember that advice
throughout 2006, Pisces. My analysis of the astrological omens suggests
that you will be frequently straying from the path of your highest
destiny,
and yet that's exactly what needs to happen in order for you to reach
your highest destiny. Forced to keep making regular adjustments, you
will
tone and strengthen your willpower, which is essential to you achieving
the goals that really matter.

It is imperative that you begin this new way of thinking at this moment, because as you do, every fibre of your being will become filled with this new thought-energy. Your body is comprised of millions upon millions of cells and each one of them is influenced in its movement by thought impulses. So the second you begin entertaining relaxing thoughts, your body becomes relaxed. The instant you begin entertaining worrisome, fearful thoughts, your body becomes rigid and tense. As you begin to hold thoughts of prosperity and begin thinking of yourself as a very wealthy, prosperous individual who is surrounded by an ocean of thought energy, swimming in a sea of plenty, your body and mind will instantly move into a prosperous vibration and you will begin to attract-just like a magnet-everything necessary for you to become wealthy.

Ok, so i finally finished playing around with the photos that i took last week at the Over the Rhine show in Cinci.

i *really* love this one in particular, it looks like it "belongs"--in the style of Michael Wilson, the unoffical OTR photgrapher (ok, maybe he's official...)

Click the photo to see the rest.
